In this fast paced life some people start a marathon after finishing studies and some who are not privileged enough to get education also run the marathon to earn bread for their family. Nobody is left out from this marathon of life to earn money for their living. As running the actual marathon makes our physical body tired and lethargic similarly running this work-life marathon makes us tired and lethargic mentally, emotionally as well as physically.

In everyday life, working individuals face unlimited challenges. Starting from reaching office on time, reaching the project deadline on time, creating a correct data sheet, delivering the right information to other people, office politics, solving problems created by other team members, pressure of putting best effort in work to get a promotion, miscommunication between employees and so on.
We often ignore this thing even if we know it but let’s face the reality that the work-related stress not only effects your work environment but also your personal life and your family. When we have a bad day at our workplace we come back home with a disturbed mood, irritated face, and we even shout at other people even if ot was not worth it. Later, we feel guilty about it and try our best to solve the issue and some people who have that little ego or who don’t know how to express their feelings that they are feeling sorry for what they did, they just simply do nothing about it but deep down they know that it was wrong. Sometimes the person himself suffers from anger issues, anxiety, headache, bodyache, problem in decision making, problem solving and confusions.
A few ways to overcome work-related stress are:
1. Communicate. Communicating with your family or friends or someone you trust at your workplace helps you to understand your emotions better. Also, bottling up everything will only make everything worse.
2. Try relaxation techniques such as breathing exercises and muscle relaxation techniques.
3. Try meditation. It calms your mind and helps you to think clearly.
4. Take out some family time or plan something with friends from your busy schedule and plan a day out on weekends or plan something indoors. It will make you and your family happy and it will act as a stress buster.
5. Try Journaling. Write down everything that you are stressed about. Make a list of things you can do to about the stressors. Make a list of pros and cons. And set your priorities. It will help you in confusions, decision making and problem solving.
In workplaces, people are so involved in their work that they forget about their mental and emotional well-being. It you are mentally and emotionally healthy, your workplace productivity and performance will also increase.
Mental health awareness is very important at every place. Many companies are in contact with organizations that provide Employees Assistance Programs (EAPs) for the mental and emotional well-being of their employees while some companies hire workplace counselors for the same.
If you are having any kind of mental or emotional imbalance, or stress, anxiety etc. do try to find out about these opportunities of EAPs provided by your company or try contacting to a mental health professional. Asking for help and talking about mental health is normal.
Break the stigma!!
